How will politics in Pakistan change with a new prime minister?

Pakistan's parliament has elected Yousaf Raza Gilani as the country's new prime minister.

 

A former house speaker and aide to slain opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, Gilani was sworn in on Monday.

 

Gilani spent five years in prison under Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan's president, who has promised to support the new government.

 

But now all eyes are on Pakistan to see if the two leaders will be able to work together, or if Musharraf will become increasingly isolated.
 

No matter what happens in this power play, Gilani and Musharraf will have to address issues such as Pakistan's relationship with the US and neighbouring India, soaring inflation and economic problems, and the on-going unrest in tribal areas.
