J of LA: Sorry for the late reply. I don't agree with yours and Lazarus' conclusion, but I am definitely far from knowing everything.

Facing the sea...

A delicate and
soft wind is
blowing near an
empty space,
while the curtain
covers a silky
notepaper describing
a picture and the
love for the youth
I call you my
darkness, I wait
for a dream......

rainmaker & dshell32: If you research CREDIBLE sources (not just Western sources either), you'll find the following timeline: US dropped first A-bomb on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. Soviets declared war on Japan on August 8 and invaded Manchuria. US dropped second A-bomb on Nagasaki on August 9. It took six days of grueling debate in Japan's inner circles of power, and one thwarted coup attempt, before the emperor took to the microphone and announced Japan's surrender. (It then took until September 2, 1945 for Japan to sign the formal documents.)

Angela, Mexico: You are a Christian fundamentalist radical. You believe that the Muslims and Christians should unite to exterminate the (filthy) Jews. What an IGNORANT women. You are allowing your ignorance and hatred to cloud you mind. The Jews are as much your sisters and brothers as are the Muslims, and if you believe that the Christians will unite with the Muslims to harm the Jews than you have never read a book, including the bible or the Quran. Wake up and Read something !! Peace and Prosperity to ALL-ALL-ALL Our Sisters and Brothers of Earth

Angela, Mexico: I am not "attacking people who tell the other side of the story" because Palestine is NOT related in any way to the situation in Colombia and has NOTHING to do with the hostage situation that THIS forum is discussing. The facts that I post are those that I obtain from spending significant time researching, but only from CREDIBLE sources. I do not use typical anti-Zionist rhetoric like you have and have acknowledged failures or faults of BOTH sides involved, not just ONE side like you do. You sound like a typical Marxist revolutionist that has repeated the same old propoganda for so long that you believe it to be Gospel truth. You should notice that I am not the only one posting here that sincerely doubts YOUR credibility, Zionists and non-Zionist alike. Remember, it was YOU who brought up Zionism, NOT me. As for Reza Santorini, I respect the views of ANYONE (Arabic AND Jewish) who has actually LIVED in Palestine/Israel during those years before and after the war.

Angela, Mexico: 'There you go again, dragging the Palestinian issue into a forum having nothing to do with it. Do you not tire of this?Lazarus1956, Des Moines, United States. Lazarus, US here you go again attacking people who tell the other side of the story, you speak half-truths and lies and expect people not to question your views. You have a dictatorial atitude! It is shocking to me that someone would look up to Rezasantorini for advice on Palestine. Do us all a favour focus on facts not fiction and racism. By the way, why discuss Zionism here if this is a topic on Colombia? Christ said" judge Not one who has a splinter in their eye if you have a LOG in yours." THINK BEFORE YOU SAY SOMETHING!!

dshell32, The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th, the second on Nagaski on August 9th. After the first bomb, Japanese cities were leafleted and Japan radio stations were notified that more bombings were imminent unless Japan surrendered. When the second bomb was dropped, Japan had still refused to acknowledge the Postdam Declaration which outlined the Truman's terms of Japan's surrender. Japan finally surrendered on August 12th. The US actually had more bombings planned if Japan didn't surrender but those were obviously aborted. Do your sources conflict with what I have just said?

Angela:In your comments you forget that an unjust act is unjust no matter what nationality or religion one might be. FARC holds hostages, makes no apologies for it. FARC has abandoned its original ideology which is justice+economic equality for indigenous peoples. Their original ideology WAS commendable, however, they extort from the peasantry+take aim at middle class+upper class to get ransom money. They are as bad as right-wing paramilitaries, both are brainwashed+ perpetuate random violence. They show no mercy or appetite for compromise. Hamas is very similar, they hold a hostage, they have given him no trial, no access to Red Cross. Samir Kuntar+Marwan Bargouti both have had trials that conform to international standards, have no malnutrition, have had access to Israeli educational system+Red Cross verification of their condition. That is the differnce between hostage+prisoner! To you, no Jew is innocent+is a target, you do not differentiate+advocate for calamity to befall them, like a Nazi!

Stinger, Tehran, Iran: Salaam aleikom, Stinger. Well said! "Anti-semitism has no place in today's world." I am not sure of the term "Zionism" though, it is too general. There are extreme variants that certainly contain racism, I'm just not familiar with what they are called. So it may not be entirely fair to label "Zionism" as racist. We need an expert in the subject to clarify the "issue". Perhaps rezasantorini can help (she grew up in Palestine and is of Arabic lineage). Ma solh mikhahim / We want peace.
