Barbara Serra

Barbara Serra
Barbara Serra joined Al Jazeera English in 2006 as one of the launch faces of the channel, presenting and reporting from the London broadcast centre.

During her time at Al Jazeera English, she has travelled extensively as a correspondent. Most recently, she followed Pope Benedict XVI on his trip to the Middle East in May 2009 as part of the official Vatican Press entourage. In the studio, Barbara was the presenter live on air when mobile video footage of Saddam Hussein's execution was first broadcast exclusively on Al Jazeera, and also anchored throughout many of the key developments of the recent war in Gaza.

In 2007 she started co-presenting a weekly programme on RAI, the Italian state TV, broadcasting from the Al Jazeera English studios in London. Her contributions bring Al Jazeera English's coverage and alternative point of view to a mainstream Italian audience.

Barbara was born in Milan but raised in Denmark and the UK. She holds a degree in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a post-graduate diploma in broadcast journalism from London's City University.
