I congratulate president Obama on his victory. Change in America must accompany change in Central/S Asia, especially Afghanistan.
Afghans/Pukhtuns will honour a strategic partnership with the US if they can gain their lands and people back from artificial State of Pakistan. The US can not have both, as is, and expect peace. From Oxus to Indus rivers are our land and people. |

Oh how I hope this is true, that USA no longer defines its citizens by skin colour, pink, black, white or brown but can rise to a new concept of equality.
I wish that Rosa Parks had lived to see the day, and Obama's grandmother. But no matter.
Those of us who are older remember the old campaign song "We shall overcome" - some day. Now we see white and black Americans with a banner declaring, "WE HAVE OVERCOME." Way to go! |

There has been a groundswell for the past seven years in the US that has not been heard until now. We, as a country, have overwhelmingly said "this man, this Barack Hussein Obama, this time, all is right. We say yes. Yes we can. No more to the fear, we see through the Republican bogey man, we don't believe the right way is brute force. We give voice to our unhappiness by our vote. The best of democracy. Now, the real work begins... Yes, we can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yq0tMYPDJQ |

Obama as the 44th president marks the end of racial segregation in the United States. It also carries the hope that the States can restore its image around the world. This isn't just a victory for Americans, but also the world. |

The new president of America |
|
|
|
|
|
I think what America did is remarkable in this century, because they showed us what America really looks like. Before yesterday, we believed America was a White country club where there was no place for Black Americans at all, and now it will be remaining in our mind in a positive way, at least the new president is African-American.
Here in the horn of Africa there are a lot of things going on, especially in Somalia, so I think the new strategy could be better than the ones of the last government… and I will be happy. |

Congratulations Barack Obama!
I suppose it was a wise choice in the end.. as most Americans hope for that 'change' they deserve, and I guess they act on it. What's amazing is the fact: the global reaction across the entire universe, regardless of the continent, they're expressing a heartfelt welcome to this 'change' in the US and the new incoming president, which is just phenomenal and I suppose this dynamic and resilient leader will no doubt would be a global icon for a better tomorrow. Well done Obama! |

|
|

We will see if Obama does better than Bill Clinton (who has the blood of a million Iraqis on his hands). Some people predict the same policies from Obama.
However, we can all take pleasure in one certitude. Remember how Barbara Bush made fun of the black people who were evacuated after Katrina?
Well now she must not only see the White House occupied by a black president, but also face the reality that it was her son's actions who put him there. |

What's interesting is that a day after the elections and Obama's victory, we are seeing very positive feedback on US politics from Muslims/Arabs/Europeans/Africans... and the whole world!
That's the change we need and that will stop 9/11s... not bombing of Iraq and killing of civilians... torture in Guantanamo! We all would prefer an Obama-style US to lead the world! Maybe then our totalitarian regimes will cease their phobia of the West and work to bring real democracy to the Middle East! |

Obama said last night: “We as a people …”. This sentiment is a reason that the US rose from wildness to a great nation in 200 years while other nations, after thousands of years of human habitation, are still third world: We focus on our similarities, while other nations focus on their differences. We rarely see first ourselves as black/white or Christian/Muslim or Democrat/Rrepublican - we are first and foremost Americans. Now, let's get to work. |

With this election, the number of new voter registrations of people under the age of 30 was the most that it has ever been. This leads me to believe that most of these people are a lot less conservative than their parents or grandparents (look at any American university). We young people understand that it is going to be us that eventually lead this country and we have decided that now is the time to start toward that change... We will not sit idly by and watch the country implode. |

And his stated policy of meeting with leaders of terrorist-sponsored states will only embolden terrorists. His VP pick Biden, was correct, within six months there will be a terrorist incident to test this inexperienced socialist. |

Renewed Faith In Democracy |

Last night I had my near-extinct faith in Democracy, and the original principles on which the IDEA of America was originally founded, renewed by two of the only sources that could have successfully convinced me: the hopeful arguments of my Arabic Professor, a Lebanese-born Palestinian woman.....and the newly elected President of the United States, an African man.
Finally, we can be proud to be American, Al-hamdu Lli'lah! |

Obama is a Zionist NeoCon. he supports the Patriot Act, more troops in Afghanistan, war with Iran, open borders, and gun control. among other things. do not expect any positive "changes" from a NeoCon who happens to have a darker complexion then all the other ones. |

My congratulations to the president-elect, H.E Barrack H. Obama. This is a relieving moment to all who thought that there's something impossible in this world. My congratulations to him for his steadiness, intellectual vigor, and educational brilliancy that sweeped the road for his long journey to success. I hope that he'll change many things about the foriegn policy of the US. Our dreams is that he'll help Somalia and its people recover after a long period of turmoil.

I'd like to point out per the comment made by our dear friend in the UK, that yes, our history is mired in bigoted hate, but before focusing on American shortcomings, please examine your own first. If it were not for the European powers both in the UK and the continent, Slavery in America never would have existed. Much of our collective pain was created by Europe and the institution of slavery they created and planted on North American land and minds, which we now reject and damn forever. |

Obama is elected because people DO want change and because they (quite late) want to correct the mistake of choosing such a ridiculous character with ridiculous policies : Bush.
He did not win ONLY because people want to punish the Bush govt., that is an excuse for loosers!! Obama is obviously a more eloquent, articulate and socially aware person than Bush or McCain.
What's the problem if he leans towards more social policies? that is precisely what the US and the world needs!! |
