Reynaldo Bignone, who ruled Argentina as president from 1982 to 1983, has gone on trial along with other senior officials of his regime.

They are accused of kidnappings and murders in the Campo de Mayo military base, one of the largest torture centres in the country.

The hearings are taking place in an indoor football pitch to guarantee enough space for members of the public who wish to attend.
