Kabul quiet as Karzai inaugurated

Security forces have locked down Afghanistan's capital for the inauguration for Hamid Karzai as Afghanistan's new president, attended by representatives of about 40 nations.

Karzai faces a host of challenges as he takes up the presidency for a second five-year term, including demands from world powers that he do more to fight corruption.

But among those Afghans who ventured on to the streets amid the security crack down, opinion was divided.

Al Jazeera's David Chater reports from Kabul.
