Seriously though, yes it is an abuse of authority. The Israeli's have acknowledged it as such. Of course there is the larger issue of the treatment of Palestinians by Israel and particularly the question of the ongoing settlements by Israel on the West Bank. Even though the video makes the event appear obvious, an investigation should be held to find out if the actions were that of a single individual or a group. People are not perfect. In every group, every mix, there are people who will do things that are questionable. Dishonorable even. To imply that this is true of only the Israli soldiers is hogwash. To imply that the Palestinians wouldn't return the same is more is naive. Imagine for a minute life in a warzone...what these soldiers must see day to day...what makes them think to do these things. Living in such a hostile environment could only beget hostile reactions. How simply we judge. |

Who did bad? an israeli soldier. Who revealed it? An israeli human rights worker. I bet that no palestinian human right worker will ever make a video footage of a crime being commited by an arab on an israeli and post in in the internet criticising the act. If that were an arab soldier, people would have been cheering him as a Hero, but in this case, most israelis including myself condemn the act. |

the problem with most of the people here is that you believe everything you read on this site. try reading multiple newspapers so you have different views of world events. read a leftist newspaper then a right wing one then more that are in the middle. only in this way can you be informed and know the truth for example that what is going on in israel is no genocide... come on that word is thrown around way to much now adays |

i was more suprised it was a rubber bullet than the fact a prisoner was shot i can imagine the outcry if the british army when fighting the I.R.A. went into a catholic estate shot the houses with tank shells grenade and shot there way into houses killed innocent civilians then surounded the estate and starved them the world press would have a ball it happens constantly in PALESTINE and we hear nothing unless its an isreali injured then its all over news and isreal can kill and starve even more |

Where are the cries for respect of ones fellow man. Amazing, I don't see one talkback for that Al-Jazeera article. This is a premeditated criminal act to terrorized innocent Palestinians. Look very careful on this video 1- this IDF unit have decided to cripple this young boy. 2- the captain grabs this kid toward a designated hitter behind the truck. 3- the hitter aims at but needed more space, so the captain pushes this kid more to the left. Then the officer aims again and shot this poor kid who was blindfolded. do we need another PR investigation? Wakeup! |

Lets try and keep an open mind and only judge the actions of the soldier not the totally of the circumstances in the region. Israel needs to address this issue not for the sake of world interpretation but for moral principle. This region is very unstable and the slightest situation could erupt in to further violence, let us not make a mole out of an ant hill. |

You couldn't get a shot of a Muslim doing this because they control the press so much and Israelis aren't allowed near Gaza. Secondly yes I read the whole article. Thirdly and most importantly, I am amazed at how little you know of the Third Reich but how much you compare Israel and Jews to Nazi's...obviously you know little about their treatment of their enemies, the Jews, even before the ghettos. |
