Al-Qaeda video rounds on Iran

Al-Zawahiri said Hezbollah was claiming disingenuous victories every year [AP]

Al-Qaeda has released a new video accusing Iran of giving way to the US in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The new footage, released three days before the seventh anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States, also attacked Lebanese, Pakistani and Afghan leaders.

Ayman al-Zawahiri, al-Qaeda's deputy leader, and other senior al-Qaeda commanders, focussed on what they called the "Iranian-Crusade alliance" saying the Muslim Umma [nation] was being targetted.

In the one-hand-half-hour video, al-Zawahiri said that the Muslim Umma was facing a military, ideological and media crusade by the Iranian "coalition", which had given way to the US, by letting them invade Afghanistan and Iraq.

Al-Qaeda's deputy also said Hezbollah and its leaders  did not gain victory in the war against Israel in 2006, saying that outcome had been beneficial to Israel.

"The most bizarre and astounding thing is that Hassan Nasrallah [Hezbollah's leader] celebrates a victory every year.

"What victory?" he said. "Retreating 30 miles backwards?" he said.

Kabul government 'weaker'

Al-Zawahiri also accused Lebanon's leaders of following in the footsteps of Washington and its "agent Arab regimes".

The video called for a continued jihad (struggle) to liberate Palestine and re-establish the Muslim Umma, and denounced the positions adopted by the Muslim and Arab states against the siege imposed on the Palestinians - namely the closure of Gaza Strip's border crossing points.

The tape said Afghanistan's government was getting weaker and frailer and that the former Pakistani president, Pervez Musharraf, had "swallowed the fruit of his betrayal" by resigning in August.

The video message said the jihad in Iraq was still up-and-running and showed interviews with an Iraqi scholar describing the country's Awakening Councils, which turned against al-Qaeda and joined sides with US-led and Iraqi troops, as "treacherous", and "doomed".

One al-Qaeda leader, Abu Yahia Al-Liby, also praised "victories" by the Islamic Courts Union in Somalia, where the network claimed the number of young fighters was surging.

Where is the #1 ?
The obvious question, in my opinion, is where is Osama bin Ladin? ... dead, vacation, or retirement?

Mr. Zawahiri, Please forgive Islam!
If u hear me, please stop poisoning Muslim youth in poverty with ur ill-idealogy. U've earned nothing but a bad name for Islam in years, today ur stupid messages fall on deaf ears of educated, informed muslims. Al-Qaeda has nothing to do with Islam, we muslims disassociate u from our religion and request u to stop ur propaganda war in the name of Islam. Please set out ur coarse with US on political note as involving religion will take millions of more innocent lives ... If AQ is man enough

charming naivety
Al Zawahiri is quite right about lebanon ofcourse, at least he does raise an interesting question what actual effects this war had for israeli military in lebanon. Don't you love how he shrubs musharaf? I think its refreshing to hear from someone that should know. Somalia, is that naive? Somehow i think it is sad that somalia needs this voice. The awakening councils might not have been as averse if irak as a whole hadn't been so policed. Civil awareness and arms are not a natural combination.

Al-Qaeda video rounds on Iran
ha ha ha .. first of all we all need to understand that al-qaeda is invented by u.s. ... there is no such thing as al-qaeda, there is no leaders cause it doesnt exist... so u.s. use it as a tool to manipulate middle east things. so, the pressure on iran didnt work(diplomatically, embargo etc...), war is not an option as they could cause a III world war, and iran has a support of islamic world — what do they do now? they try to turn islamic world against iran ... unbeliveable so sad

Aiman and his Message.
This is for Mr,Patriot:You say Ahmadinejad needs a psychiatrist for a small man syndrome. What do you think Bush needs,Alcohol counseling, idiocy counseling, stupidity counseling, speech therapy, maybe he needs alcohol it might make him smart.I don't particularly care about Alqaeda because it probably is a US creation,Osama probably is Bush's buddy,Saudis certainly are. What puzzles me is that you would make such an idiotic comment.Look at your own leader first before you judge others.Shame on you.

Propaganda
Since time immemorial, the west has always used divide and conquer. this is just an extension of that. They used it in India (Hindus vs Muslim), they used it in most Arab countries (Shiite vs Sunni) and against communist countries vs the so-called "Democracratic" reformers. To them a proper Muslim(one who follows Islam rigidly) or opposes western imperialism is a fanatic, extremist, or radical.

I can not believe the stupid comments I read from some of the people who read these stories. They must of at least finished 3rd or 4 th grade. They were able to read the story and write a comment. I guess that is why there is so much killing going on there. That is all they know and all they will ever know. They all need to stand in one place and let us send them to paradise. We would be happy to do it.

9/11 and al-Qaeda brought the U.S. into Afghanistan.Bush was targeting Iraq, and Afghanistan was a distraction. But, he tried to tie Iraq into the 9/11 attack as an excuse for a war with that country. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and there was no al-Qaeda in Iraq bedore the war.

I Smell Jealousy ?
You know old fool, why they are victorious cause they fought the most strongest army in M.E. and repelled them. The Israelis themselves admit to it in Winograd report. They donot kill innocent non combatant civilians purposely like you, they dont bomb places of worship and wedding halls like you. They dont kill innocent women and children in mass like you. They are respected by their own enemies due to their professionalism and their conduct in war unlike yours. Jealous ?

Every time the US wants to send its usual false messages around the world,we see these messages immediately at the moment in time they are about to make a propaganda .What a nasty world !!Some times I feel very disgusted about these messages ,because I suspect these videos are been doctured by some agents of the world of secrecy under whose mercy we are living...with their policy of do anything to achive any thing.

War on Islam
How many Muslims have been killed around the world by the US, UK, Israel and Western forces since 9/11? Is anyone anywhere keeping a check on figures? In light of these atrocities against Muslims can anyone blame Muslims for perceiving this as a new Crusade or War on Islam? Perhaps Al Qaeda are correct in their perception but people are too afraid to agree with them.

Iran, a victim of the West and Al-Qaeda
If it is true that this message is from Al-Qaeda, then al-Qaeda must be an agent which gives the West the justification they need to invade or bomb the less fortunate Muslim countries. If not, how can Iran be of the George Bush’s “axes of evil” and Al-Qaeda’s “ally of Western crusade”? I just do not get it! All I know is the Western’s desperate desire to see Sunnis Muslims against Shia Muslims. That is exactly what al-Qaida is now looking for. Know that I am not a Shia Muslim!

Al-Qaeda video
This guy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, what a joke. Who is listening to this bumbling old fool anyway? Everyone knows Osama is gone. Thank GOD!!! If Al-Qaeda actually still exists, they're hanging on by a fingernail. As for Iran, can someone set an appointment for Ahmadinejad to go see a psychologist regarding his small man syndrome?

Al Queda
For you people who want to claim Al qaeda doesn't ixist mabe you should ask someone in Pakistan at the moment what they think. And really some of denial I am seeing from people with their conspiracy theory's is akin to the Former Iraqi Information ministers comical broadcasts during Iraqi freedom. Deny all you like, the truth is all that matters. I Commend however Camaar from Afganistans comments, if only we could hear more that from muslim world it would greatly change peoples perspectives.

Al-Qaeda video rounds on Iran
XXX and Bakar have hit the nail on the head. Is everyone else in the world so naive as to believe that in the Bush-Cheney "New World Order" that they could foment and sustain a global war on terror without creating a boogeyman to fight against? Al-Qaeda is such a complete joke. Cut off the CIA funding and see how long this war on terror continues. This is beyond pathetic. Does anyone actually believe this garbage??

Jihad/Crusade
I think it is time that the world realize the American government is looking out for itself, and no one else. It's interests come first. Also, Al Qaeda is not Islam. Al Qaeda abuses the name of Allah and the word of Muhammad to further their own aims. They want the Islamic world to turn on Iran? How about the Islamic world turn on them? How about a Jihad against those men who abuse the poorest of the Islamic world, and turn them against their brothers.
