I've been hearing reports of this directly from Gaza almost all week, just as we (US) used in Fallujah. Also reporting something IDF using affecting the population's breathing.
Doctors, hospital staff reporting skin wounds on children, etc., that ID phosphurus.
Undoubtedly a war crime, used on captive civilians. |

I can honestly say that I am not suprised to hear this. Naysayers will ask for proof. I'm sure that it will be forth coming. I've kept video of its use in Fallujah as a reminder of its affects. I condemn the use of these weapons in these situations. Remember though, Israel has a little more than a week left before Bush leaves office. It is in their interest to achieve their goals before this time. As would be expected,most of our news is Pro-Israeli oriented. News with an agenda. |

Suicide bombers do their best to kill and injure as many Israelis as they can. Once again Israel flaunts International Law and no-one is prepared to criticise them. The IDF spokesmen continue the tired old line about not using WP and only using it to cover troop movements but the evidence is plain to see, plumes of WP falling on inhabited areas.

Its shocking that a country with a so-called "modern" army would use these kinds of weapons in areas with such dense populations. There seems to be a lack of discipline in the IDF in that they are so quick to use all means at their disposal, civilian casualties be damned, rather than fighting Hamas directly. The problem as I see it is that all of the actions they take now will be seared into the memories of the peoples of the region for years to come and with sad results. |

It is not often I agree with Aljazeera's articles. But I've have seen these rounds explode in Gaza on CNN. There are other rounds they can use.
When I was in the US Army, we used White phosphourus, or Willi P as we called it to mark postions.
Regualar smoke rounds work almost as well.
Willi P is nasty on flesh. But it was used in World War 2 pretty often.
It just works. |
