i condem civillian deaths on both sides .That said , i can not understand the logic of hamas deliberatley placing explosives in civillian houses , the consequnce of which is only to increase the number of inoccent people being killed. Is the leadership of Hamas not morally obliged to do all that it can to protect the people they are supposed to represent ?? |

Stop shedding the blood of the innocent |

Checking everyday's headline is very heartbreaking.I really cant imagine what kind of people can kill innocent women and children, while some people are happy and supporting it.It's really easy to speak if it's not your home that is destroyed, it's not your son who is killed, you can sleep in a comfortable bed.But what if the world turn upside down and you're the one in their situation?Ok,both sides have done wrong, but when will they stop?it's a neverending vengeance and innocents suffer. |

Stop killing the Palestinians! |
|
|
|
|
|
Israel always looks for a pretext to launch military strikes against the Palestinians. The Western countries have always been supporting Israel for its actions and the expression that they have always used is that: “Israel has the right to defend itself”.
The West and its so called Human Rights organizations are blind now. They do not notice all the atrocities and crimes against humanity and massacres committed by Israel. Stop WAR now! Let the Palestinians live free in peace as others would. |

Very sad but Hammas is to blame |
|
|
|
|
|
It is very sad that innocent civilians are killed. Hammas and extremists have been terrrorizing southern Israel for over 8 years, shooting rockets and missiles at innocent civilian towns almost every day. Israel pulled out of Gaza over 3 years ago. Since then all Hammas did was arm itself with more missiles, weapons and rockets, instead of trying to rebuild it's economy and prosperity of Gaza. That's all they care about - trying to harras and ultimately destroy Israel. |

The main problem |
|
|
|
|
|
The main problem of the Gaza and Palestine is that instead of building their own country they try to destroy Israel. You can't build anything by destructing others. Look at the history , both started at the same place. And 60 years later Palestinians exactly at the same place where they started 60 years ago. Once again, instead of hating Israel, build your own state and leave as rest of the normal world. Your children will thanks you for this. |

Will the People in Power Kindly Intervene |

To end the present crisis, the burden now really lies with Hamas. It should stop the fighting and call for cease fire for the sake of its people. The way I see it is Israel will not rest until it wipes Gaza clean. The international community at the same time should press Israel to enter cease fire. Countless innocent lives including those of children are being lost in the process of propagating geo-political agendas by both sides with deadly religious spin incinerating the violence all the more |

What in the world happened to the learned people of the Jewish faith. For the several past centuries, they've been the vanguard of progressive movements,
socialism, civil rights in the US, many others. How do bright well informed people give in to blind tribal nationalism?
Judaism would be much better off with a binational state of Palestine. Let those who want to emigrate to the West free to go and institute a reconciliation process similar to South Africa in the land of Palestine. |

The fighting needs to stop immediately. I know the US can do nothing. The average American only wishes they could do something to affect their federal government, which is a captive of the corporate/power machine. I have Jewish friends and I admire their love for Israel, but I don't understand how the country exists. I never expect the violent to end there, since both sides are too racist to merge the country. |

Israels only friend |

U.S. is moving away from middle east (Iraq, mainly). U.S. has had its own hands full inside, and can't get into other's business NOW.
As Israel is showing more military muscles and accompanied violence, the sign of fear spreading through Israel gets more evident.
After all, with their only friend gone, can Israel exist? Surrounded by cold eyes everywhere, remaining options for Israel would be fewer than ever.
I think it can be the end of an abnormal cycle of middle east history. |

I don't care whose fault this whole thing is. Even if this whole thing is Israel's fault and the Arabs are 110% right it still does not make sense to send rockets into Israel.
If you know that your enemy is probably 100 times more capable of causing destruction to your women and children than what does it matter if you are right. Why is Hamas sending rockets into Israel? |

looking beyond numbers |

|
|
|

seemingly when looking at the numbers ("850": 13) words like 'massacre', 'injustice' come to mind. numbers are important (albeit inflated ones) , but i think intentions are also important to bear in mind:
if Israel could have its way, no civilians would be killed. Israel has repeatedly made that clear.
if Hamas had its way, each missile would kill thousands of civilians. they have made that clear as well.
when Hamas stops using innocent children and women to hide, less civilians would die. |

This is a war. There will be civilian casualties on both sides. The number is irrevelant. The willingness to fight or kill is what wins a war. The Palestinian people do not have the capacity to fight and make the necessary sacrifices to win. They will lose and when Israel leaves the Gaza strip, the destruction will remain physically and mentally. Action speaks better than words and all we are getting are please for help and loud demands from the powerless. |

If hamas would only care less about its pride and more about its civilians, the innocent will stop dieing.
Why does hamas think they are in a position to not accept a ceasefire?
Does it not see the suffering of its civilians?
As for israel, although the killing is unacceptable, it was a matter of time untill they would retaliate on more than 8000 rockets hitting its civilians on a daily basis.
Seems Hamas is satisfied making israel look bad, and getting people's sympaty, no matter the price! |

Israel has been doing this almost ever since the second world war and any violence against them has had no effect. My compassion is for the Palestinian people being attacked in their concentration camps but war against the Zionist war machine only gives them the excuse to do these things. The back bone of the IDF is American funding so if you want change do some lobbying or make your voices heard. Arabs put your oil money on an OBJECTIVE media in the US or cut their oil supplies!

I can't imagine what life must be like for the Gazans, crammed together in a tiny enclave that is little more than a prison camp. However, if they want to change things and gain their freedom, they must be willing to fight for it and resist the IDF in any way they can. I hope the Gazans show the IDF how much they want their freedom, in the same way the Americans showed Britain over 200 years ago.

I am disgusted. No words to descibe it. Its war and people die, its unjust and unecessary. Instead of people in suits doing handshakes and talks there needs to be more ground work for the real peace to start. Stop this murderous assault on Paleastine. Innocent children should not have to be slain with rockets n bombs to make a point. On both sides those who perpetrate these atrocities reap what you sow. Longer pain and suffering will arise and the peace with be an everlasting struggle. |

This is one war which Hamas cannot be blamed for. I am not a Hamas supporter, nor do I condone their rocket fire. However, after more than 18 months of Israeli blockade on Gaza, the Gazans have been denied the most basic needs for their welfare. Israel has violated Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and they expect a basket of fruits from Hamas? Israel needs to open its eyes, and look in the mirror. An eye for an eye? Hamas tells the people to surround the militants and if the people die, then they are
martyrs who died while protecting the fighters. That is why so many Gazans die.
It is horrible to use people to protect the
fighters. Then the deaths of the Gazans are
used as propaganda to incite Muslims.
It is horrible. The fighters should not
be around the people. If you do not blame Hamas for the deaths of the Gazans, you are advocating the practice of using people as protection. |

Why doesn't the world agree that Israel didn't exist for over 2000 years. It is the brainchild of UK (and USA) who occupied the Palestinian territories from Ottoman Empire in WW-I and later transferred this land to Israel. Hundreds of thousand Palestinians were displaced out of their land to provide place for the immigrating Jews. Today, Israel comprises of 90% immigrants while Palestinians are the real residents ot the land historically and genetically. Isn't Hamas war of freedom?? |
