Israel 'shelled Gaza civilians'
The Red Cross has criticised Israel for allegedly preventing access to the wounded [AFP]

The United Nations says it has received reports that about 30 Palestinians were killed when Israeli forces shelled a house after they had moved about 110 civilians inside it.

"According to several testimonies, on 4 January Israeli foot soldiers evacuated approximately 110 Palestinians into a single-residence house in Zeitun, warning them to stay indoors," the UN report said on Friday.

"Twenty-four hours later, Israeli forces shelled the home repeatedly, killing approximately 30."

The incident took place on Monday in the Zeitun neighbourhood of Gaza City on Monday, the report said.

The UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) called it "one of the gravest incidents since the beginning of operations" by Israeli forces in Gaza on December 27.

"Those who survived and were able walked two kilometres to Salah Ed Din road before being transported to hospital in civilian vehicles," OCHA said.

"Three children, the youngest of whom was five months old, died upon arrival at the hospital."

The Israeli military said on Friday that it had no knowledge of the incident.

Wounded wait

The Israeli B'Tselem human rights group quoted Meysa Fawzi al Samouni, a 19-year-old resident, as saying that soldiers forced her and dozens of others to move into the warehouse-like home of another resident before the attack.

"As far as I know, the dead and wounded who were under the ruins are still there," B'Tselem quoted her as saying.

"There was no water, no bread, nothing to eat"

Ibrahim Samouni,
13-year-old survivor of shelling

Ibrahim Samouni, a 13-year-old boy who was wounded in the leg and chest, told the Reuters news agency that he kept his three younger brothers alive and tried to help the injured adults lying among the dead after his mother was killed in the incident.

"There was no water, no bread, nothing to eat," he said.

"Abu Salah died, his wife died. Abu Tawfiq died, his son died, his wife also died. Mohammed Ibrahim died, and his mother died. Ishaq died and Nasar died. The wife of Nael Samouni died. Many people died."

Emergency workers from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Palestinian Red Crescent said they were not able to reach the wounded for four days because Israel would not allow them safe passage.

They said the children were starving when rescuers finally reached them after the "unacceptable" delay.

"They were too weak to stand up on their own. One man was also found alive, too weak to stand up. In all, there were at least 12 corpses lying on mattresses," the ICRC said.

Civilian casualties

Pierre Wettach, the ICRC chief for Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories, said: "The Israeli military must have been aware of the situation but did not assist the wounded.

"Neither did they make it possible for us or the Palestinian Red Crescent to assist the wounded."

Israel has repreatedly insisted it has tried to avert civilian casualties during its two-week aerial and ground assault on the territory.

"From initial checking, we don't have knowledge of this incident. We started an inquiry but we still don't know about it," Avital Leibovich, an Israeli military spokeswoman, said about the reported shelling incident.

More than 780 people, including at least 257 children and 56 women, have been killed during Israel's aerial bombardment and ground offensive, the UN has said.

Pro-Israeli because that they always protect the sleeping west
Its not popular to be Pro-Israe li ,but when i see all the attacks on this small country i know i an sure that they are right. When an Israeli is killed by a rockket they have to be stupied if they react proportionaly. Hamas was elected democraticaly but so did Hitler... thousends of people are killed in African countries and i never so any demonstration like here. In the past it was easy to kill a Jew today you have to think twice because they have a good protector.

Western Oil Embargo Definite Option
1973 oil embargo against Western countries giving aid to Israel worked. It may be the only thing to halt this madness again. Russia or China would replace the Western powers as buyers.

Seriously, nothing to be proud of you! If you have got no so called hi-tec weapon, would you dare to cross Gaza??? No! I dont think so. You may need to think that 100 times or maybe more...

Sorry Gazans.
Sorry dear innocent Gazans, the whole world sympathises with you. I only pray that the rocket throwing Hammas stop their actions so that we can give the Israelites the benefit of doubt.

Israel shelled Gaza civilians
After seeing the Israel actions towards Plaestinian civillians. It become obvious that there is no different between Nazi and Zionist. Both of them put vulnerable civilian as their victim. They should be ashamed for cowardly attacking innocence people just because they claimed to protect themselves from Hamas rockets. How many Jews have been killed by Hamas rockets and how many Palestinian civilians have they killed using their killing machines ?. They should know how to count themselves.

To AMR (India)
Nazis systematically exterminated Jews/Gypsies/homosexuals/retarded people by hundreds thousands and millions (including hundred thousands of Polish slave laborers). The victims never fired a single shot at Germany, didn't claim any land, and didn't harbor any hostile military force (Jews and Gypsies had none to begin with). The current natural growth by Palestinians by far exceed the number of dead. So a genocide/Holocaust as you call it, is just a poor attempt of making use of big words.

Bringing about peace
Some people believe that peace treaties, international pressure, summits, embargos, etc. will help bring about peace. Actually all these initiatives have brought along a lasting war with continuous casualties. It seems both Israel and Hamas are happy to continue going at it... so let them, if the issues are resolved by the parties it is far better for the long-term for both sides, than an early end where some cease-fire is forced upon the sides.

Its not about rocket
Why Hamas keep firing rockets to Israel? Are they going to occupy and defeat Israel with their rocket? Are their rockets a weapon of mass destruction? Of course they have killed civillian with their rocket..but have Israel did not kill any civillian??? The real issue IS NOT ABOUT HAMAS ROCKET.. It is about illegal occupation of Palestinian land by Israel.. it doesn't need rocket scientist to figure that out.

Israeli Cowards
The Israeli regime cannot be described anything other than despicable child killing war criminals.Israeli soldiers are worse than cowards as they bombard infants and innocent children with cluster bombs and white phosphorus.Compare 1024 with 13 fatalities on each side.It is not a war but a premeditated extermination or "holocaust" of the Palestinian people whose only cry is"give us back our land".These Israeli terrorists should fear Gods punishment for the mass murder that they commit.
