Fears over Iranian influence  
 

Iran's apparent expanding power and influence over armed groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah, are a cause for concern for the US, Israel and some Arab countries.

The dominant religion in Iran is the Shia branch of Islam and Tehran's growing influence has revived talk of an emerging Shia crescent.
