Thailand's three southernmost provinces have spent the last three years in a state of near civil war.

Thousands have died in the struggle between Muslim separatists and the Thai military, with atrocities committed by both sides.

In this week's edition of 101 East we will be asking if there is any hope for peace in the region - or if this smouldering conflict looks set to become more intense, with civilians those most likely to suffer the brunt of it.
