Watch part two
Gaza has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the Palestinian territories.
The Israeli siege is strangling the economy, and many of the businesses that were managing to scrape by were destroyed by the recent war.
In addition to homes and government builidings, it is estimated that more than 320 factories and 800 private businesses in Gaza were destroyed or damaged.
Focus on Gaza visited some of those bombed factories and spoke to the owner of the Pepsi-Cola bottling factory that has managed to stay in business despite the circumstances.
Meanwhile Gazan students in Jordan have little hope of getting a job when they return home.
Al Jazeera also met a Gazan worker who used to work in Israel as a skilled labourer with a good salary. Since the Israeli blockade, he has been confined to the Strip and is now making and selling juice on the streets of Gaza just to get by.
Al Jazeera reports on his life before and after the Israeli siege and how he is making ends meet.
Focus on Gaza can be seen from Friday, May 1, 2009 at the following times GMT: Friday: 1430, 2030; Saturday: 0430, 1230 and 1900; Sunday: 0130, 1630.
