Sarkozy extends influence over French media     As well as being on friendly terms with a number of powerful media magnates the French president Nicolas Sarkozy is pursuing a number of controversial policies. He has said that news channel France 24 should drop it’s English and Arabic services, announcing that advertising on public TV be stopped, and decreeing that he will personally select the President of France's public TV service.
