Kabir Bedi

Bedi starred opposite Roger Moore in the James
Bond blockbuster, Octopussy

Bollywood actors rarely make the cross over from Indian cinema to work in other countries, but this actor made his mark not only in Hollywood, but - of all places - in Italy. This week on One on One, meet the charming and ageless, Kabir Bedi.

It is hard to miss the tall, imposing figure of this Punjabi actor with green-brown eyes. It was his good looks that made Italians easily accept Kabir Bedi as the charismatic pirate, Sandokan, in the hugely successful European television series with the same name.

Although he took on romantic roles in many productions - such as the romantic Prince Omar in the popular Hollywood soap, The Bold and the Beautiful - he was Roger Moore's nemesis in the James Bond blockbuster, Octopussy.

Even though his acting life was somewhat charmed, Bedi suffered personal tragedy when his son, Siddarth, committed suicide in 1997 at the age of 26, after a long history of schizophrenia. His success and global lifestyle also cost him three marriages - although that has not deterred his daughter, Pooja, and his son, Adam, from following in his thespian footsteps.
