Dan Dunn

Dan Dunn is considered to be the creator of
the
"Paint Jam" style of painting

This week on One on One, meet the award-winning caricaturist and whacky painter, Dan Dunn.

When things became so tough he could not afford to feed his family, this artist decided to take a radical turn in his work style.

Creating Paint Jam has made him a celebrity performer hugely in demand across the world.

There are few performers who can match the energy of Dan Dunn – an artist who spent much of his life struggling to make a living from his passion for his craft.

He started caricatures in 1977 working year after year in Houston, the town where he studied. He became a founding member of the National Caricaturist Network and served as its president – but it never paid off in a big way financially.

It was only when things got desperate and he was very heavily indebted, that Dunn came up with an idea that would eventually turn his life around.

The award-winning caricaturist developed a frenzied style of painting on stage which he called "Paint Jam". This involves a high-energy experience where he throws himself at the canvas in what looks like random strokes, only to reveal a remarkable piece in the final moments.
