Wong How Man

Watch part two

This week on One on One, Riz Khan meets Wong How Man, the intrepid, Hong Kong-born explorer.

Wong has spent almost three decades travelling to remote locations, identifying areas that have largely been unexplored or comprehensively documented.

His early trips made him realise that many of the people who live in these remote places need help to use the resources around them more efficiently, while at the same time, providing a foundation for sustainable growth and ecological conservation.

The adventurer also used photography, while working with National Geographic, to document cultures and traditions that were in danger of being lost as the modern world entered far-flung locations.

Wong's reputation as a serious explorer grew as he persisted in travelling through the wilderness to discover the true geographic source of the Yangtze - China's longest river.

This episode of One on One can be seen from Saturday, October 10, at the following times GMT: Saturday: 0130, 1630; Sunday: 0430; Monday: 0300, 1230.
