Programmes RIZ KHAN
Ambassador Nicholas Burns

Watch part two

On Monday's Riz Khan we speak to Ambassador Nicholas Burns, the former US undersecretary of state.

During his 27 years as a career diplomat, Burns spearheaded US diplomatic efforts with Iran, India, and Kosovo.

He served as state department spokesperson under Bill Clinton when he was US president.

As the state department's highest-ranking career official, he was a key advisor to Condoleezza Rice, the former secretary of state - so close that some described him as a "Svengali".

In this edition of the Riz Khan show we ask Burns for his analysis on Iran's elections, the UN security council's decision to sanction North Korea and we will get a reaction to the much-anticipated speech on the peace process by Binyamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister.

This episode of Riz Khan aired from Monday, June 15, 2009.
