What now for Afghanistan?

Barack Obama has praised Nato allies for agreeing to send 5,000 extra military personnel to Afghanistan. Shortly after taking office, Obama pledged to send 21,000 more troops to Afghanistan and is reportedly considering sending 10,000 more. What are the biggest challenges facing Afghanistan and how can these be tackled? Will additional troops help?
